Welcome to BOW-vember

My student, Sophie, surprised me last week with her own exercise for the bow:
I thought this video would be the perfect introduction to our month of BOW-vember, in which I am hoping to post a bunch of info about the bow itself and the act of bowing.  I hope to hear from you about your ideas about the bow too!

Leave a comment if there is some bow-oriented topic you would like to talk about... I'll be sure to ask Sophie about it!

Dear Nan,
It was a joy to meet you. Thank you for taking the time to teach us about string crossings. I needed that topic. Enjoy your T shirt. Off to work again tomorrow.
Best to you,
Barb

Dear Nan,

How do you know your cello playing is improving?
1. Your husband stays in the room while you practice.
2. The kids dance to your music or sing
3. The dog doesn't need to go outside at that time and is content.
4. You wonder who is playing your cello. Is it playing itself?
5. You imagine that you are Pablo Casals for one measure.
6. You lose track of time.
7. Your cello has a name and your husband uses it when he loads the cello.
8. You begin to play around with options for your bow arm.
9. You know where the sweet spot is for your bow.
10. You don't want to miss your lesson and your cello teacher is one of your best pals!
