Practice, probability, and the zombie apolcalypse

I might have a thing for zombies.

"Practice until you get it right" couldn’t be more wrong!

Watch my new video below to be sure you aren’t inadvertently bringing about your own doom with this crazy idea about practice...

Perhaps what I say in this video will seem like common sense to you.  If so, you're one of the lucky ones. All I know is that I wasted an entire decade of my cello life playing instead of practicing--and I don't want you to make the same mistake!

Let me know how your practice is going in the comments section below.  Happy practicing!

1. I love your shirt!
2. When you were playing the zombie repetitions, after a while that started to sound like the right notes!! AH! For some of us, using a drone in the process might help as well.
3. GREAT video! Thanks.

I was dithering on whether or not to practice this morning, when I remembered this post. CAN'T. LET. ZOMBIES. WIN. After that, there was no question. I set to work creating as many good soldiers as possible... Thank you for the video.

This is wonderful. I described this to my teacher in a recent lesson. She was tickled. Her description of this idea was: "I fully believe you will do 1000 repetitions of this idea, but how many of them will be close enough to correct to count!" We frequently speak of the zombies and the good soldiers. Thank you!

Great video! I've shared it with my violin studio. Thanks!
